Residents should be warned about potential construction

I moved to South Brunswick more than 11 years ago, partly due to the rural nature of the township.

Since that time I have witnessed the dwindling of the green areas and the increase in the number of housing developments.

I live in a development that has become a cut-through for cars traveling between Route 27 and Route 1.

Currently, a day care is being built on Gateway Boulevard. In my opinion, this will increase the traffic in my development, Highgate Manor.

Quite by accident, I learned plans have been drawn and submitted to the Zoning Board to build a strip mall on the northeast corner of Gateway Boulevard and Route 27. Building such a strip mall would condemn certain streets in Highgate Manor to become busy conduits for traffic.

Since development on Gateway Boulevard adversely affects those residents who reside in Highgate Manor, I am at a loss as to why there is no requirement to inform all the residents in a development about the potential construction that would impact them.

With the busy schedule most adhere to, it is virtually impossible to attend every Zoning Board meeting. The 200 feet notification provision should be extended when the impact of a decision would affect the quality of life in an entire community.
