Resident deems Guear an ‘out-of-touch politician’

In case you missed it, the people of South Brunswick were left out again. Drivers in North Brunswick and Edison are covered under the new "Safe Corridors" Route 1 highway safety program, as are drivers in Trenton and Lawrenceville. The 10 miles of Route 1 in-between that includes South Brunswick. We were cut out of the safety program.

Apparently Route 1 in South Brunswick has been deemed "safe" by the sponsor of the legislation, our own state assemblyman, Gary Guear, and the Trenton bureaucrats.

I’m not sure if Guear has been on Route 1 during rush hour, but I know the highway isn’t any safer in South Brunswick than it is in North Brunswick.

And I’m not the only one who disagrees with Guear. Our own police chief, Michael Paquette, expressed disbelief that South Brunswick was cut out of the program.

Last week Chief Paquette said, "I don’t know how they could neglect the rest of that road. Traffic is horrendous and we have a large number of accidents."

I couldn’t agree more with Chief Paquette. He is protecting the lives of South Brunswick’s residents every day, and I trust his opinion more than the bureaucrats in Trenton. And I certainly trust Paquette’s words more than Gary Guear’s — just another out-of-touch politician.
