Political abuse of photo ops are nothing new Deborah Koster’s letter on May 8 concerning Councilman Francis "Mac" Womack’s photo op with the North Brunswick Fire Department leads me to raise similar concerns about President Bush’s recent photo op on the USS Abraham Lincoln. President George Bush’s jet landing was entirely staged as a mega ego trip. The ship was within helicopter range; less than an hour later and it would have been in port. But, of course, walking up a gangway isn’t as glamorous as hooking a wire on the flight deck. I am opposed to the president using our valuable military resources simply to boost his machismo. When I pay my taxes to support our fine military, can I specify that my tax money won’t be used for blatant ego-boosting by President Bush’s re-election campaign? William Lim North Brunswick |
