The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s Aug. 22 outing. The game played was even holes, half handicap. Mary Ann Gelsinon won the A Flight, followed by Thelma Tsacnaris, Marge Quirk and Ellie de la Bandera. Diane Del Masto won the B Flight, followed by Joan Semen, Fran Poulin and Marian Marshall. Joy Goldstein won the C Flight, followed by Janette Squires, Anne Jawidzik and Gloria Frock. Quirk and Goldstein had fewest putts with 14.

The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s Nine-Hole Golf Association’s Sept. 5 outing. The game played was par 3s and par 5s, half handicap. Mary Ann Gelsinon won Flight A with a score of 11, followed by Edythe Gutman (11), Joan Hoskins (13) and Ellie de la Bandera (15). Joan Semen won Flight B with 13, followed by Shirley Maas (14), Marion Batchelor (14) and Inge Robinson (15). Rosann Marosy won Flight C with 8, followed by Anne Jawidzik (11), Marge Wukitsch (14) and Gloria Frock (15). Gutman had the fewest putts with 14.

The following are the results of the Tamarack Women’s 18-Hole Golf Association’s Aug. 20 Sweepstakes Tournament. Blenda Treuman won Flight A with 67, followed by Muriel Feniello (70) and Rita Reisart (70). Jan Unger had low putts with 29. Thelma Tsacnaris won Flight B with 69, followed by Tim Jesdanan (71) and Young Lee (71). Claudia Homoki had low putts with 27. Inge Robinson won Flight C with 75, followed by Judi Weinberg (75) and Terry Massaro (82). Helen Jo had low putts with 41.

The Milltown American Legion Post 25 will host a 40 and over slowpitch softball tournament Sept. 21. The rain date is Sept. 22. The cost is $150 per team. For more information, contact John Adochio at (732) 274-2393.

The Robbinsville Cobras played a tough and grueling season in the CBC Travel Baseball League. The Cobras finished with an 11-3 record to capture the title. Freddie Ulisse, Michael Constantini, Ryan Leader, Mark Mairano, Cory Karagjozi, Josh Pacifico, Stevie Todd, Joey Ferraro, Michael Schubert, Danny Powell, Jared Rubenstein, Zach Donohue, Brett Anderson and Alec Schwartz all played outstanding baseball in their first season of playing baseball under high school federation rules, in which leading, head-first sliding, and picking off runners are permitted. The team plays on a modified field of 50/70 to compensate for leading. Ulisse led the Cobras in hitting with a .465 batting average, followed by Leader .428, Constantini .404, Schubert .375, Donohue .356, Anderson .314 and Powell .300. The pitching corps were also outstanding, led by Zach Donohue, Ryan Leader, Danny Powell and Michael Constantini. Jared Rubenstein played outstandingly at second base making double plays look easy. Cory Karagjozi, Josh Pacifico, Stevie Todd, Joey Ferraro and Michael Schubert also played key roles on the team when a defensive play was needed to be made or the team needed the big hit. These boys came through in the clutch.

The Old Bridge-based Battle of Monmouth Rockets U11 travel soccer team claimed second place at the East Brunswick Labor Day tournament. The team qualified for the finals with victories over the East Brunswick Gladiators (7-0) and the Old Bridge Flames (5-2). The final two games were played on rain-soaked fields against the Westfield Raptors, with the outcome in Westfield’s favor. The Rockets were led with goals from Mario Rangel, Jimmy Meindl, Matt Magliocco, Christopher Wishart, Michael Utset, Greg Barbo, Patrick Risi and Nicholas Martins. Also assisting the offense were Tyler Berman, Danny Botros, Mike Casari, Corey Donnelly and Nicholas Pascale. A relentless defense was led by Michael Utset, Ryan McCartney, Christopher Wishart, Alex Slade and Greg Barbo. Goal tending was split between Nicholas Pascale and Michael Utset. The team was helped by two guest players, Robert Casari on offense and Kevin McCartney on defense. Missing from the team were Alex Terwilliger, Aakash Shah and Bryan Glinsky. The coaches are Steve Casari, Jim Meindl and George Pascale.

The Sayreville Bomber Football Team Touchdown Club will hold a night of professional wrestling at Sayreville High School on Sept. 28, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Scheduled to appear are TV wrestling stars Disco Inferno, Simon Diamond, The Patriot and more. Registration is being accepted for the Old Bridge fall ice hockey youth instructional program, sponsored by the township Department of Parks, Recreation & Social Services. The program will be held Sunday evenings at the Old Bridge Sports Arena. Youngsters ages 5 through 12 will be instructed on the fundamentals of hockey, including stickhandling, passing, and shooting. Participants are required to wear full equipment. The 90-minute sessions are broken into two age groups: 5-8 and 9-13. The 5-8 group runs from 5:15 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., the older group runs from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. The cost is $200 for Old Bridge residents and $250 for nonresidents. The CNJ United, an U12 boys’ travel soccer team, captured first place in the 21st annual South Brunswick Invitational Tournament. CNJ United defeated teams from Hillsborough, Montclair, North Brunswick and Union. This was CNJ United’s sixth tournament victory in the past year. The team is Gabriel Aquino, Joe Brisindi, Thomas Brynkiewicz, Tommy Cahillane, Michael Chiosi, Mohamed Conteh, Greg DeMaio, Nic Giraldo, Ryan Iannuzzo, Sean Lawrence, Dennis Mooney, Tom Parkinson, Petar Pavkovic, Michael Pluta, Mike Salazer and Matt Sepe. CNJ United is coached by Art Pluta and Dan Cahillane and assisted by Kian Barry and Danny Cahillane. CNJ United is affiliated with the Central New Jersey Silver Bullet Soccer Club.

The American Heart Association’s 11th annual American Heart Walk will be held at Thompson Park in the Lincroft section of Middletown Sept. 29. There will be a total of 13 walksites throughout the state. Currently the American Heart Association is seeking volunteers to help organize and facilitate the walk. Volunteers are needed to help with walksite set-up and take-down, check-in/registration support, performers and entertainers, community health fair participants, photography volunteers, and volunteers to help distribute food beverages and other items.
