Ten new voting districts added to S.B.

Population increases polling districts

by one-third

South Brunswick voters should carefully examine their sample ballots for the June 4 primary election.

Township Clerk Barbara Gut said Tuesday night that there will be 10 more voting districts, starting with the primary election.

"These will be the new districts from now on," Gut said, adding, "It is very important to review the sample ballot for any changes."

Gut said the 10 new districts were created following the 2000 U.S. Census.

"It takes some time after the census," Gut said.

According to Gut, the new districts were created for every 250-750 residents.

"The new districts were created to keep all the districts within that range of voters," Gut said, adding that many of the districts were well over the 750 maximum allowed per district.

The new districts and polling places will be in effect for all elections, including the primary.

According to Gut, the new districts and the polling sites are as follows:

District 3 will vote at the Kingston First Aid Squad; Districts 18, 21 and 22 at the Kendall Park firehouse; Districts 13, 15, 23 and 30 at the Senior Center; Districts 11 and 12 at the Brunswick Acres Elementary School; Districts 7, 10 and 24 at the Constable School; Districts 14, 17 and 28 at the Crossroads Middle School; Districts 5, 6, 8, 9 and 16 at the Community Center; Districts 25, 26 and 27 at the high school; Districts 2, 19 and 20 at the Monmouth Junction firehouse; and Districts 1, 4 and 29 at the Indian Fields Elementary School.

Gut said that only four districts — 4, 5, 9 and 17 — have no change in status or polling place.

District 12 will now vote at Brunswick Acres, Gut said.

There are now two new polling locations at the Monmouth Junction fire house and the high school, both on Ridge Road.

Gut said that residents with questions about the new locations or about what district they are in may call the township Clerk’s Office at (732) 329-4000, ext. 352.
